Zuni pueblo is located in the Western part of New Mexico and is home to some of the world’s finest lapidary artisans. During the 1870’s the Zuni began using lapidary wheels to cut stones into specific shapes and started to set them individually into silver bezels while creating intricate patterns. Their work is recognized worldwide and is some of the most intricate stone work available today in Native American jewelry. Petit point jewelry is created by cutting stone into tiny round, pear, square, oval, or rectangle shapes and then setting it within it’s own silver sawtooth bezel. The elegance and grace of Zuni work is unmatched and remains an American traditional design.
